After trying to put the factory edge back on myself, I did more harm than good. I was initially a little nervous about sending my TRC South Pole in for sharpening. I emailed Vlad about whether TRC resharpens knives, and he pointed out this service. I have to say I am blown away by the absolute perfection. I told Vlad I wanted it restored to a factory edge, and he recommended a 21 degree edge. Because I use this knife a lot, he recommended his “back to teeth” finish. I mailed the knife to Vlad and in about a week, I have it back. I have to say that the edge Vlad put on the blade exceeds my expectations by a mile. I'd argue Vlad's sharpening put an edge on the South Pole that is superior to the original factory edge. It is shaving sharp and has a mirror finish. The blade has obviously been taken care of by a perfectionist, and I really could not be happier. Vlad told me when he received my knife, contacted me immediately about exactly what kind of edge I wanted, and got it done remarkably fast. I really could not be more impressed. If you are looking for someone to professionally restore the edge on your knife, or change the grind angle to match your specific needs, I highly recommend this service. Five stars for sure.
