Sophisticated and Impressive General Use Knife

DED Tanagi w/green-black micarta, leather sheath
I purchased this knife to serve as a slightly larger option to my DED Tactic D for hiking/camping/general use. The Tanagi is as finely executed overall as the Tactic D, but with standard green-black Micarta scales instead of the deluxe “brain”-type Micarta on the D. But interestingly, the blade finish on the Tanagi has a very smooth and elegant stonewash finish compared to the normal polished look (with grind lines visible) on the D. Further, the edge bevel on the Tanagi has a mirror finish in perfect contrast to the silky look of the rest of the blade. The Tanagi weighs 6.6 oz. (knife only, compared to the 4.9 oz. for the D), is balanced just behind the mosaic pin, and gives the user a real feeling of confidence (and satisfaction). Despite the absence of a finger guard, the grip is excellent and secure with the sculpting on the scales and perfect jimping above and below the front of the scales. The blade has a bit of an exotic stance to it, unique from the drop points I’ve owned or seen. Cuts/slices like a dream and enough heft for light chopping or light batoning.

Love the entire package, including the high quality leather sheath with metal clip for belt attachment.
